There are just two photographs in this book, on the covers. The front shows a prewar TF (underfloor-engined Leyland Tiger) of 1939 and the back one of the three RWs (Willowbrook-bodied AEC Reliances) of 1960. Between them 21 years elapsed, during which time London Transport acquired over 9,200 buses. Each bus when new was allocated a body number so that it could be identified through all its life with LT, since body swapping was - in normal times - almost universal on each overhaul.
