Stagecoach warns against cross-border complications and quality contracts

Stagecoach wants the Welsh Government to create regional bodies responsible for roads and public transport, but has urged it not to bring in separate regulatory rules from the rest of Britain, nor to introduce London-style quality contracts or to dictate fares levels. In its response to a report on integrated public transport from the national assembly's enterprise and business committee, the UK's largest bus and rail operator says: 'Private sector operators are happy to work in partnership with the public sector to improve integration, co-ordination, ticketing and information, within the scope of competition law and on the understanding that services must be commercially and sustainably viable.
