So the latest in a string of daft ideas from Transport for London is to remove cash fares. You can imagine the arguments that are going to result when somebody's Oyster card does not work or they have left it at home and the driver cannot accept a cash payment. In most cases the driver will have little option other than to take the passenger free of charge and once word gets around we will have another massive loss of revenue owing to freeloaders getting on board. Still why should TfL worry? It is all funded out of the public purse. There was the open boarding bendybus, only TfL seemed to be surprised that with no ticket checks many people took the opportunity to have a free ride, but has TfL learned their lesson?
