Ken Crawley has been in touch from his new home in Kirton, near Boston in rural Lincolnshire where two road names caught his attention, making him think that maybe the old Lincolnshire Road Car was back in business in an area served today by Brylaine. Said independent's Boston-Spalding service passes through the village of Gosberton. 'Therein are two roads, which as far as I can imagine, never had a bus service,' he says, 'though their names may indicate the type of Lincolnshire Road Car bus that might have been appropriate.' Lowbridge Lane is also fairly narrow while High Bridge Lane also appears perilous, allowing speeds of up to 60mph (50mph for PCVs) before reaching its ultimate destination of a dead end. 'It would be nice to think that a railway line crossed both lanes, bridged by structures passable to specified types of bus, and the names being given in order to warn unwary drivers,' muses Ken. 'Alas, this is a flight of fancy and the real reason for such naming may never be known.' Unless a Buses reader can solve the mystery.
