The two latest conversions to operation by New Routemasters are both routes operated by Stagecoach East London. By the end of January, the 55 (Oxford Circus-Leyton) had changed over, gaining 34 such buses, while the 15 (Trafalgar Square-Blackwall DLR station) was due to be completed by the end of February with 22 buses. That represents a landmark, with 12 routes now worked with around 400 buses - a halfway point towards the ultimate total of 808. Seven of these run in driver-only mode all the time, including the 15 (which serves such tourist attractions as St Paul's Cathedral, Monument and the Tower of London) and the 55. The 55 carries an average of 27,000 passengers a day, while roughly two-thirds as many buses on the 15 carry just over half that number, 14,500. TfL has also released its latest fuel consumption comparison figures for six of the earlier conversions to New Routemasters, which also show variations, down in part to the type of buses they have replaced.
