London's transport needs are growing by two buses a day and two tube trains a week, as its population grows by nine residents every hour. These figures are quoted in Streets Ahead, an exhibition on the future of London's roads held at the Building Centre in Store Street, WC1. A booklet of the same title repeats these striking statistics. Taken at face value, this suggests a required intake of 350 extra buses a year, about double the increase achieved last year.
