Robert Howard [You Write, March) complains about bus services in Nottingham because of competition, but he should be eternally grateful that he has such superior transport services compared to almost everywhere else in the country. Nottingham has the highest percentage of the population using public transport outside London, where private transport is not normally an option. Moreover, it has the highest proportion of the population using buses outside London in spite of well-run and well-used tram and train services.
