Go-Ahead London wins global environment award for Waterloo

Go-Ahead London beat off over 2,000 entries from around the world to win this year's Energy Globe award for its electrification of Waterloo garage. The award was initiated in 1999 by the Austrian energy pioneer Wolfgang Neumann and is one the most prestigious environmental accolades. Its aim is to present successful sustainable projects to a broad audience. The £20million redevelopment of Waterloo has cut Go-Ahead London's carbon footprint dramatically. All energy used to charge the buses on routes 507 and 521 is also purchased from sustainable sources and since 2016 an estimated 2,500tonnes of carbon dioxide have not been emitted thanks to the introduction of the 51 BYD/Alexander Dennis Enviro200EVs.
