Cut by Trent Barton becomes CT4N's commercial opportunity

Community transport operator CT4N has stepped in after Trent Barton announced the withdrawal of one of its few routes still to bear a conventional route number. The 18 - also spelt as a word - runs every half hour between Nottingham and Beeston, with hourly extensions to Stapleford. Since 2015, much of the route has been broadly paralleled by the Nottingham Express Transit tramway, which is part owned by parent company Wellglade. 'Unfortunately, local travel habits have changed since the extension of the tram through Beeston, and despite several timetable changes, customer numbers haven't grown enough to keep 18 as a viable service,' says Trent Barton.
