Further to your editorial comment last month and the two You Write contributions to which you refer, I do not seek to support or condemn today's managers, as I have been away from British bus companies for too many years to do so fairly, but I believe that in any large group of individuals there are likely to be some good, some bad and others indifferent. One of the insurmountable problems bus company managers have always faced is that whereas Joe Public would not profess to know how to manage a nuclear power station, he certainly knows how to manage a bus company, when in reality he probably knows little of either.
