A few years ago, I typified Geother-al Resources Council (GRC) Annual Meetings as a "Barometer of the Industry." Why? Because as employment in the geothermal industry goes, so goes attendance at our event. I am happy to report that the barometer is rising, given increasing interest in geothermal development. This includes institution of Renewable Portfolio Standards in key geothermal states, as well as activities by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) GeoPowering the West program. GRC membership has rebounded, and this year's Annual Meeting enjoyed its highest attendance since 1997.
