Bob Forest died at the age of 85 on January 14 at his home in Sparks, Nevada from complications of leukemia. He was born on his grandfather's homestead in southwestern Colorado in 1929 and graduated from Durango High School in 1947. He lived independently and worked at the Strater Hotel in Durango during his high school years. While serving in the Navy following high school he met and married his first wife LaVerne Zimmerman. Bob and LaVerne had three children: daughter Carol and sons Michael and Mark.
