Kristensen, director of the NuclearInformation Project with the Federation of American Scientists, and Matt Korda, a researchassociate with the project. The Nuclear Notebook column has been published in the Bulletin ofthe Atomic Scientists since 1987. This issue’s column examines China’s nuclear arsenal, whichincludes about 290 warheads for delivery by ballistic missiles and bombers. This stockpile is likelyto grow further over the next decade, and we estimate that China will soon surpass France as theworld’s third-largest nuclear-armed state.
