Implementation of the Reporting Formalities Directive 2010/65/EU -Development of National Single Window in the EU Member States

While the administrative formalities for land and air transport within the European Union (EU) have been considerably streamlined since the creation of the single market, maritime transport remains subject to complex, time-consuming and paper-based procedures. These procedures result in costs and delays, reducing the competitiveness of maritime transport compared with other modes of transport. Ship masters or their representatives are, in some ports, still burdened with having to fill in paper documents which often include similar information and distribute them to the different government authorities' offices.
