The Academy held a Seminar on the Safety of Navigation in Istanbul on 11th March 2019, immediately prior to the Preparatory Diplomatic Conference. Lecturing is more than just delivering content, it's about making complex ideas understandable and guiding, inspiring and motivating participants to become AtoN and VTS professionals. The World-Wide Academy is aware that current and aspiring need support to improve their skills and to be kept up to date with the latest developments in AtoN and VTS education and training. It therefore plans to deliver a Lecturer Development Programme which will be open to all AtoN and VTS Accredited Training Organisation lecturers. The aim of this programme is to enable lecturers to maximize their participants engagement and achievement by examining and applying different teaching and learning methods appropriate to the AtoN and VTS model courses. Those who have completed the Lecturer Development Programme may then be added to an international pool of AtoN and VTS lecturers formed from the IALA AtoN and VTS Alumni. The first Lecturer Development Programme will take place in Suriname in summer 2019 with further programmes planned in Asia and Europe.
