A tribute to the memory of IAEG Honorary President Marcel Arnould

Professor Arnould played a fundamental part in the creation of IAEG and was elected its President for the period 1972-1978. His important contribution was recognized by the title of Honorary President, the only time this title has been conferred by the Association. In view of this and the important contribution he made to the field of engineering geology and to the development of this as an academic discipline, it is appropriate that we should take the unusual step of publishing the eulogy delivered by his colleague and our Co-Editor, Roger Cojean.
