HAROPA ports to be unified

The French government wants the HAROPA ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris to be unified into a single Grand Port Maritime (GPM) port authority by January 2021. This was revealed by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe at the latest CIMER (Intermin-isterial Committee for the Sea) meeting, held in the Port of Dunkirk in November. The HAROPA GIE (Grouping of Economic Interest) was created several years ago to promote the Seine seaports and hinterland as a single logistics space and a multimodal gateway for global imports and exports. GPM du Havre is strategically important for crude oil imports, while the upstream GPM de Rouen is arguably of even more strategic importance, as it is France's and Europe's biggest grain export port.
