South African conglomerate Aveng is in the process of selling its Aveng Rail subsidiary to Mathupha Capital, a black empowerment qualified company. Aveng is selling some of its offshoots in order to reduce its debts and concentrate on its core mining, construction and engineering operations. Aveng Rail builds and maintains railways across Southern Africa, including in the mining sector. Its assets include a fleet of mechanised track maintenance equipment.
