Mozambique's rail and port operator Caminhos de Ferro do Mocambique (CFM) has reported that the cost of redeveloping the Sena Railway, which runs from Tete Province to the Indian Ocean port of Beira, will be twice as high as previously estimated. In common with all of the country's railway lines, the Sena route was damaged during Mozambique's long civil war but is now in the process of being rehabilitated. A contract for most development work has been given to Rites Group of India, although CFM has already carried out a small amount of work itself.
