Oz to up ore supplies

Australia is to become an even larger iron ore supplier as BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto ramp up production in the Pilbara region from existing and new mines that could see their combined output from the region reaching 620 mtpa by 2022. Rio Tinto is planning to double annual production to around 220 mt by 2009 while BHP Billiton is planning to lift production to about 300 mt by 2010 from about 130 mt this year.
