Traditionally mechanical self-unloading systems rely on gravity to feed cargo to longitudinal tank top conveyors which in turn supply a vertical pocket belt elevator or inclined conveyor which connects to the boom shoreside discharge conveyor. For Panamax-sized or larger self-unloaders, such as employed in the Oldendorf/CSL International pool, this provides the optimum configuration for their charter demands.
