The Australian Government's decision to impose a 40% Resources Super Profits Tax has thrown a number of major mining projects into possible doubt as developers review the likely impact and the industry ramps up a campaign of opposition.rnThe government will apply the RSPT from 2012-13 and expects it to raise A$3B that year and A$9B in 2013-14, saying leading minerals pro-rnducers have reaped A$80B in windfall gains in recent years but the Australian taxpayers' share, through the government, was only AS9B.
