China to build model iron ore production base

Chinese mining companies Hebei Iron and Steel Mining and Beijing Shougang Mining Investment are to jointly build a state-of-the-art iron ore production base in north ern Hebei province. When completed by the end of 2015, it will become the largest mining base in China and Asia. It is expected to carry out six major iron ore mining programmes located in the three local areas of Tangshan, Qinhuangdao and Chengde.
