OBA's new arab crane

OB A, (Overslagbedrijf Amsterdam), majority-owned by HES Beheer and hence a sister company of EMO in Rotterdam, has taken delivery of a new quayside gantry grab unloader with a 60t rated hoist load (grab + load). The crane was delivered in Amsterdam in July by ZPMC and is scheduled to enter service in mid-September, it replacing a 1954-built 30t crane. With its 3500 tph peak unloading capacity, the unloader ranks among the fastest in the world, claims HES Beheer. The ZPMC crane and the related conveyor belt system cost OBA around €15M, HES said. The new capacity is aimed at coal handling, which already constitutes about 90% of OBA's business. This makes it one of Europe's two biggest coal stevedores, together with EMO. With a say in EMO and EBS in Rotterdam, OBA (67%) in Amsterdam and Ovet in Terneuzen and Flushing, the stocklisted HES Group is Holland's major dry bulk player.
