EECV to expand coal import capacity

EECV is to invest €20M in the expansion of its coal handling complex in Rotterdam's Europoort area by 18 hectares to 53 hectares. The investment will enable the terminal's import capacity of coking coal to increase from 4.5 mtpa to 6 mtpa. Construction is due to start in 2012 and the expanded facility should come on stream by 2013. Raising the storage capacity of coal by 50%, from the current 800,000t to 1.2 mt, is a key motive behind the expansion.
