Semi-bulk sustainability

Flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs), as well as rigid-type IBCs which are employed primarily for handling liquids and pastes, have both been in widespread use for over 30 years and the industry has attained a level of maturity where technical innovations are nowadays infrequent and usually only of a specialised nature. Instead the focus has shifted more towards ecological concerns with an emphasis on improved reconditioning and recycling procedures, the long-term objective being to reduce environmental impact and carbon footprint. At the same time the global industry is continuing to undergo a process of rationalisation with production concentrated on fewer but larger manufacturers.
