DR Congo looks to Lobito

After the recent announcement that Zambia will be connected to Angola's Benguela Railway, the Angolan Government has revealed that the railway will now also be connected to Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo). Both Zambia and DR Congo formerly exported copper and some other mining commodities via the Benguela line and the Atlantic port of Lobito but that trade came to an end with the outbreak of civil war in Angola in 1974. The Angolan Government is now keen to regain business that was lost to Durban, Dar es Salaam and other ports in the Southern African Development region.
