Barcarena port project go-ahead

Brazil's national waterways transport agency, Antaq, has given Hidrovias do Brasil permission to build its first ever port terminal. This will be at Barcarena, in the state of Para, and be part of a US$581M investment that the company is making in the region's logistics network, which includes two port terminals and a fleet of barges. According to company president Bruno Seapion, part of the capital required has already been identified for all the investment originally envisaged, which will form 40% of the overall budget. The rest will be in the form of debt to be structured by Banco do Brasil.
