Hansa Heavy Lift (HHL) has transported a new ship-loader from Nantong in China to Portland, Oregon. Weighing over 560t, the new loader was built by Sand-vik Mining and Construction for Canpotex's Portland Bulk Terminals LLC. Transported on the hhl richards bay, the shipload-er measures 36.5m long by 56.44m wide and 31.5m high. It was installed on the terminal's 252.7m dock, the most challenging part of which was lifting the machine over the dock conveyor system and lowering it onto the crane rails. "We then completed the installation of the tripper car and portal, under the direction of Sandvik," explained Gareth Hamer, head of cargo management for HHL Americas. "The discharge operation took place over five days and required detailed planning, as well as close cooperation with all parties involved.
