Export orders surge for SAS

Interior materials manufacturer SAS International has announced record pre-tax profits for 2010, attributed to a surge in export orders. The partitions, doors and ceilings manufacturer grew turnover by 9.3% to £74m for the year ending December 2010, resulting in a profit of £7m, up from £2.8m in 2009. Although orders in the UK for the year showed a downturn, export orders increased 127%. The company's experience internationally proved crucial during the recession, according to director Andrew Jackson. "SAS has been operating outside the UK for more than 30 years, particularly in Europe and the Middle East," he said. "We've been pro-active in developing our business in emerging markets. Our strong results are a reflection of that."
