Perhaps unsurprisingly given my role, I'm a fan of masonry buildings. From ancient Roman architecture through to medieval castles, churches, palaces, some Victorian edifices and modern creations (with a bit of help from steel) all rank highly in my opinion, but my wonder has to be the Pantheon in Rome. Visited by millions each year, it's a remarkable structure; stunning inside and out and expertly designed using brick, mortar, marble, and pozzolan (volcanic ash) based concrete - which helped form the vast concrete dome.
