Fire safety in residential blocks is about more than ACM cladding

The Grenfell inquiry may be on hold until next month but the issue of unsafe cladding has not gone away. This week an alliance of homeowners, building owners, and property managers wrote an open letter to the chancellor, Rishi Sunak, seeking a multibillion-pound emergency fund to refurbish unsafe buildings. They claim, backed by research from the Association of Residential Managing Agents, that over 1,300 buildings need remediation work - and that over half a million people therefore are living in unsafe homes.
