OMA has won a design competition to deliver the new headquarters for Belgium's national railway company - SNCB/NMBS - in Brussels. It is the Dutch practice's first major project in Belgium, and alongside local firm Jaspers-Eyers Architects, it will repurpose the existing 1950s buildings at Brussels-South railway station. It is set to deliver 75,000m~2 of new office space and a fitness centre, alongside rooftop gardens on the existing buildings. Inaugurated in 1958, the original offices were built to coincide with the Brussels World's Fair, also known as Expo 58, which was held at Heysel Exhibition Park in the city.
