The new community of Mindenhurst is quickly taking shape at the Princess Royal Barracks at Deepcut in Surrey. As the Army undergoes a phased withdrawal of its personnel to Worthy Down near Winchester, it is vacating land for 1,200 new homes, 69 hectares of public green space and village amenities. The site, which has been the home of an Army training centre since the Nineteenth Century, is steeped in history. Once Deepcut is entirely vacated, the remaining Army buildings will be demolished, with the exception of three listed structures, making way for further phases of the redevelopment scheme.
