Liverpool hospital brings in Mace to help finish the job

The scale of the task facing Laing O'Rourke to complete the hospital delayed by the collapse of Carillion has now emerged, as the trust in charge of the project said it has brought Mace in to help complete the scheme. In October the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed Laing O'Rourke would manage the construction contract of the Royal Liverpool hospital, but new documents reveal Mace has also been brought in to get the £350m project back on track. In the board's papers published this week, the trust said it had brought Mace in to help manage the risk associated with the scheme after O'Rourke said it was "not prepared to take any risk" on the job. Mace is acting as the project manager, contract administrator and cost adviser.
