Housing tops the list of livelihood issues that are of public concern. It is also the bedrock of a stable society. That should not come as a surprise to anyone, given the traditional Chinese thinking that there is nothing more important than having a roof over one's head. To enhance the sense of belonging to society, we need to make housing more affordable and accessible to different strata of society and establish a housing ladder to promote home ownership and social mobility.
