Hong Kong construction output up 9.7% in the fourth quarter of 2014

The total gross value of construction works main contractors performed in the fourth quarter of 2014 increased 9.7% in nominal terms over a year earlier to $53.2 billion, the Census & Statistics Department announced recently. After discounting the effect of price changes, the total gross value rose 4.6% in real terms. The gross value of construction works performed at private-sector sites totalled $14.9 billion, up 8.1% in nominal terms but down 0.1% in real terms. For public sector sites, the value increased 6.1% in nominal terms to $18 billion. In real terms it increased 1.0%.
