The park generated income of HK$986 million with a net profit of HK$82 million during this period. The current capacity of the park is 36,000 but is limited to about 33,000 in the interests of visitor comfort. It is ranked the fourteenth most visited theme park in the world. A major HK$5.5 billion redevelopment and expansion programme commenced in 2006 and the park remains open as normal during the redevelopment period. In October 2011 it was announced that Ocean Park is to explore the feasibility of developing Tai Shue Wan as a new theme zone with an all-weather indoor Water World, ice skating rink and dining and entertainment facilities.
