"We work Within reasonably tight budgets and our role is to add the designer touches within the constraints set by the developer," says Jacqueline Bowen of the eponymous London-based practice, summarising the challenge facing the interior designer working for the speculative developer. Bowen is working for some of London's Leading lights, such as Berkeley Homes, St George and Goldcrest Homes, so the task cannot be beyond her. Her practice recently worked for Goldcrest on City View apartments in Essex Road, Islington, which precisely illustrates flair within a strict budget (top left). First, Bowen specified the capital's Zeitgeist look of plain, lightwood kitchen units, selected from Commodore Kitchens. "Everyone wants to create as much light as possible. Clean. Bright. Timeless."
