In the old port area on the edge of the medieval city of Goes in the Netherlands, an urban extension masterplanned by West 8 is gradually taking shape. Rotterdam practice Pasel-Kiinzel Architects' contribution is a 34-dwelling housing scheme that comprises the first phase of the Waterstad Goese Schans development. The housing units are terraced row houses, forming a dense low-rise community where each house has its own front door. The Pasel-Kuenzel houses are mixed in with the works of other architects within four perimeter blocks in multiples varying from single houses to a row of eight, allowing a mix of repetition and variety in the neighbourhood's streets.
