Setting sail for a new world view

To write about architecture is to be confronted by two questions. First: how to write? Second: what is architecture? Answering these questions creates a loop of indeterminate logic: how we write determines what architecture is; and how we determine architecture suggests how we should write. Architecture's disciplinary core provides a language, a canon of agreed references, and places where its discourse occurs. Using the characteristics of disciplinary writing sets architecture as a special thing outside the rest of the world. It talks of massing, of detail, of how architecture is conceived and constructed.
