White House Summit reflections

In this observer's view, the first White House Summit on Federal Sustainable Buildings, held last month in Washington, accomplished quite a lot in just two days. First, the signing of a "memorandum of understanding" by 17 federal agencies provided tangible evidence of how far the federal government has progressed in green building in the last five years. Although most of the government officials present at the summit were pretty much members of the "green" choir, it was remarkable to hear them describe the many accomplishments their agencies and departments had achieved in implementing sustainable design and construction.
