Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002 (Vic)

For the last 30 years subcontractor lobby groups in Australia have been seeking security for the payment of subcontractors. As a result, various pieces of legislation have been enacted in several Australian states and in New Zealand. The earliest examples include worker's lien legislation enacted in the Northern Territory, South Australia and New Zealand and the Queensland Sub-contractors Charges Act (1974).
