The Government used its new housing strategy for England to launch a fresh attack on brownfleld-first policies which it accuses of building too many flats, destroying gardens, driving up land prices and town cramming. Ministers chose a time when too few flats are being built, few if any gardens are being developed, land prices are falling and towns are being left undeveloped to renew their attack on brownfield policies in Laying the Foundations: A Housing Strategy for England.
