摘要

The Commons Communities & Local Government Committee inquiry into National Planning Polity Framework reforms heard a surprising level of agreement on registers at its first oral evidence session. And it also heard planners continuing to warn about development of brownfield sites remote from employment, though not greenfield. Home Builders Federation deputy chairman Peter Andrew said although the Federation supports the registers, it would be concerned if that turned into brownfield-first or a sequential test. "Sites are not actually the key point; it is the number of outlets that home builders have in terms of their outlets to sell," he said. "That is the key thing. We may go a little further, actually, and say that there should be a presumption for brownfield development within a settlement boundary that is slightly further than what is proposed at the moment."
