The International Petroleum Corporation of Delaware has been ordered to pay a $1.3m fine and $2.2m in restitution by the US District Court for environmental crimes including a conspiracy to violate the Clean Water Act. According to the US EPA, the company's petroleum processing activities at its Wilmington site created wastewater, which was treated before being discharged into a sewer. Under the terms of its pre-treatment permit, IPC had to take representative samples of its waste water each month.
