Philippines gets tough on mining watersheds

The Philippines Environment Secretary Gina Lopez has announced that 75 mineral production sharing agreements for mining sites within watershed areas could be cancelled. Show cause orders have been issued to these mining companies, who have seven days to respond and argue why their MPSAs should not be cancelled and do not threaten watersheds.
