SME support could deliver 25,000 homes,says report

Despite the huge challenges faced by SME housebuilders, they could deliver an extra 25,000 new homes a year if the Government were to remove industry barriers, claims a Home Builders Federation report. In Reversing the Decline of Small Housebuilders, the HBF notes that the number of SME housebuilders has fallen by 80% in the past 25 years. Today, there are few new entrants into the industry and established businesses are struggling to grow.
