Chinese portal Netease said online games were its main growth driver in 4Q04, during which net revenues for such activities rose 23% to RMB197 million ($24 million). The company reported total net revenue of RMB262 million for the quarter, nearly a 10% rise compared with 3Q04. "Our online-games business has again exceeded our expectations," said Michael Tong, COO of Netease. " Westward Journey Online Version 2.0 and Fantasy Westward Journey Online continued their strong performance, as shown by record high concurrent-user numbers in the fourth quarter in 2004 and double-digit growth for Westward Journey during the quarter."
