Heineken has threatened legal action against photographers who accuse the company of using copyrighted images without permission. In July, hundreds of photos sourced from Flickr and other social networking websites were used on HeinekenMusic.ie to promote a music festival sponsored by the company's Irish subsidiary. The photos were used without their owners' permission or prior knowledge.Following protests from photographers, Heineken instantly removed the images and offered €15 per image to anyone who could prove that their copyright had been infringed. The compensation was offered on thebasis that it did not represent admission of any liability and as a final settlement.
